| | | Channel Registration Service | ![]() | | ChanServ is FunNet's channel registration service bot. It allows channel managers and specified users to maintain operator (@) control over their channels, and to maintain an access list of what users should be granted ChanOp status. ChanServ also provides a reliable way to manage a channel's banlist, and helps prevent channel takeovers. | ![]() | | | User Account Service | ![]() | | Though its name may be slightly deceptive, NickServ does not actually register or protect nicknames. What NickServ does is manage account settings, and provides an means to verify who you are and what access privileges you have in various channels.
NickServ verifies your username/password against a list of allowed host masks (i.e. youruser@your.ip.address), so if you are having trouble authenticating to NickServ, please /msg NickServ HELP authcookie for instructions on how to gain access to your account.
| ![]() | | | Global Messaging Service | ![]() | | This service provides FunNet staff with an effective way to communicate to large numbers of users at once. If you see a NOTICE prefixed with GLOBAL, that means it is a message sent to all online users.
| ![]() | | | IRC Operator Service | ![]() | | OpServ is restricted to IRC Operators only. It allows the network staff the capability of tracking down floodnets, setting global bans, and changing channel modes. It is most commonly used to help in channel takeovers and setting G:LINE (Global Ban) parameters. | ![]() |
